A 36-year-old man has been refused bail after leading police on a seven-hour pursuit that started in Point Cook, Victoria. The magistrate said the chase is one of the worst she'd ever seen.

A 36-year-old man, Alexander Misovic, appeared before a magistrate facing 64 charges following an alleged crime spree in Point Cook, Victoria. Police allege Misovic was on bail when he stole a van, drove at high speeds, and struck at least 20 vehicles, including a police car, during a seven-hour pursuit.

Court footage showed Misovic allegedly ramming through bollards and running red lights, with police expressing concerns for public safety if he were released. The magistrate refused his bail application, describing the incident as one of the most serious driving offences seen in court. Misovic remains in hospital under police guard.

He's allegedly responsible for a criminal rampage with multiple break-ins, a dramatic seven-hour pursuit and at least 20 vehicles hit, including a police car. 36-year-old Alexander Misovic fronted a magistrate facing 64 charges. Police told the court he was on bail when he allegedly stole a van in the city, driving it erratically and clocking more than 150 kilometres an hour as he tried to evade police. In new vision released by the magistrate, Misovic is allegedly captured ramming through bollards in a car park in an attempt to flee. And in air wing footage, can be seen allegedly running a red light, colliding with a car, then driving away. The footage was played to the court in a bid by Victoria Police to shut down the accused's fresh application for bail. Detective Senior Constable Tyler Sherlock told the magistrate he's shown blatant disregard for the safety of others or those who impede his criminal offending, adding if granted bail there would be fears he will seriously injure or kill a member of the public or a police officer. The 36-year-old remains in hospital under police guard with a broken hip and femur. For most of today's hearing, he laid back in his hospital bed with his eyes closed. When he heard the magistrate was refusing his bail request, he logged himself off the link with police indicating he was now refusing to participate. Magistrate Joanna Metcalfe said, I have to say it is simply staggering, Mr Misovic, that, in the circumstances, other people haven't been injured by your driving.
