A 20-year-old man has appeared in court accused of driving a car marked with Chinese police insignia while carrying live ammunition. The accused's firearms license has been suspended.

Kunlang Li, aged 20, has been charged after police spotted a car in Strathfield, NSW, marked with Chinese police insignia. When questioned, Li allegedly provided a fake document claiming the car was used for transporting Chinese consulate officials, which authorities determined was not true. During a search, police reportedly found 48 rounds of live ammunition in the vehicle and gel blasters at Li's home. Li holds a firearm licence, but not for gel blasters. He faces eight charges, including displaying emergency services insignia and failing to display proper licence plates. Li used an interpreter in court, indicated he is seeking legal advice, and the case has been adjourned. His firearms licence has been suspended and the car has been defected.

When the real police searched the fake police vehicle, they allegedly found 48 rounds of live ammunition. Police say Li told them he thought that was the best place to store it. All of a sudden there's like a highway patrol and another highway patrol and yeah it got pretty crazy. Kunlang Li has a firearm licence but not for gel blasters, which police also allegedly found at his home. The 20-year-old is now charged with eight different offences including for displaying emergency services organisation insignia and not displaying his pig plates. Li used an interpreter inside the courtroom but he still didn't say much except that he's still seeking legal advice. The matter was adjourned and he'll be back in court next month.
