Police are investigating the deaths of a 39-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man at a property in Mount Waverley. The bodies were discovered after neighbours reported hearing yelling, prompting a welfare check. Witnesses saw a man leaving the scene with two dogs and discarding a bloodied knife. 

A 34-year-old suspect, known to the victims, was later found at a nearby train station with the dogs. The attack is believed to have been targeted. The male victim reportedly suffered severe injuries, and the female victim, believed to be his partner, was five months pregnant. Graffiti was found at the scene, and police are investigating its connection to the incident. Authorities are appealing for witnesses.

Police were called at about 9.20 in relation to a welfare check and then a second call was made that suggested it was perhaps more urgent than what the first call was. Witnesses saw a man calmly walking away before police arrived with two German shepherds by his side before he discarded a bloodied knife at the end of the street. Police launched a manhunt before finding a 34-year-old suspect at Westall train station several hours later still in possession of the dogs. Appears to be a targeted attack. Our suspect is known to the address. They're yet to reveal the full extent of the victim's fatal injuries, but 10 News understands the man was decapitated and his head impaled on a spike. The female victim, believed to be his partner, was five months pregnant. We believe that the person we have in custody does know the occupant of the address. The victim's unit and side fence have also been sprayed with graffiti. The bizarre messages include phrases such as, karma has no menu, enough is enough, and a homophobic slew. Police are investigating if it's linked to the deaths. Oh, I just couldn't believe what I was getting told. I'm very, very sad. Autopsies will be carried out tomorrow. Detectives are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the suspect last night to come forward. Abbey Dinnam, 10 News.
