This incident closely mirrors a similar flood that struck the business in January 2024, which caused damages estimated between $60,000 and $75,000.

Co-owner Meg Blanqueto reported that the business is now in the cleanup stage and expressed hope that some delivery vans may be salvageable, unlike the previous event when two were lost. The owners also acknowledged strong community support as they work to recover from the repeated disaster.

Some businesses devastated by the January storm two years ago were hit again yesterday. ABC 10 News reporter Ryan Hill follows through with the business experiencing a drenched deja vu. So yesterday morning, January 1st New Year's Day, our studio flooded yet again with about three ft of water. It's not the start that owners of native poppy, a local flower company hoped or wanted for the start of a new year. Co owner Meg Blanqueto tells me her business partner was watching the flooding happening in real time from their security cameras and their husband rushed over to the Mission Valley warehouse in between that time that he left their house and there was a little bit of water on the floor and he got here. It was done. The floodwater subsided and Blanqueto and company are now in the cleanup stage. We keep saying it's like the worst kind of deja vu lost everything. I know we just flipped over to 2026. But if the story sounds familiar to you, there's a reason. These look like the same photos the same day two years ago, just slightly three weeks apart. But yes, feels very unfortunately very similar. Native poppies. Mission Valley warehouse got hit hard by the January 22nd storm in 2024 a costly flood for a small business. It was probably closer to 75,000 60 to 75,000. We think it's gonna be similar to that. It's worse than last time, but they're hoping there's a silver lining this time and all the brown muck. The one saving grace we're hoping for. We don't have final answer on this, but we think last time we lost two out of the three of our delivery vans completely totaled. We're hopeful that one is fine and there's a chance the other one might be fine. So if our two vans here are salvageable, that will be a real win for us. Yeah, it's really hard on the business. And last time our community did so much to help get us through. We've already seen the outpouring of support, and so we're so grateful for that. Ryan Hill, abc 10 news.
