It's part and parcel of what this city is. There's a lot of walls that are plain and I feel like art should be there. I want Lagos to be an art city. When you come to Lagos, you know that you're going to see amazing art. For organizers, the festival is about creating space for artists who don't always fit into traditional galleries. We've also always believed in the democratization of arts, making sure that art is not limited to gallery spaces, but it can also be seen in public space. It's also an answer to just allowing community to be able to experience art in its truest, rawest form. Residents say street art is changing how they experience Lagos. Not everyone has the privilege to experience it because you have to go to a gallery, you have to see it in the museums and stuff like that. Places that are really important and hard to get into, but having art on the street just makes it very inclusive.
