Those scenes illustrate a family legacy her daughters are still trying to navigate. Your fathers gave their lives for their country, but they were not the perfect men you imagine. You have never let go of them. Thomas co-wrote the film and makes her directorial debut. It took me a while to adjust to the fact that I was the one making the decisions and I had to stop saying, would you mind if, you know, being sort of apologetic about everything. I had to stop doing that. It took me about two weeks. She's just so instinctual and she's just this on the surface, it just happens. It's like some kind of magical spell. She's quite extraordinary.
