Fellow swimmer Cam McAvoy expressed support for the concept, suggesting it could become a major in-season championship.

Especially leading into Brisbane 2032, I think it's so important to get our home crowd just invested in the sport of swimming. I think we go really unrecognised considering we bring in the most amount of Olympic medals. Throwing down the gauntlet to our emerging track stars. You know, they make a semi-final, it's the best thing ever. You see swimmers making a semi-final, it's hardly making the papers. This was supposed to be an off year for the 24-year-old, but there was nothing chill about her record-breaking 100 and 200 metre backstroke victories at the World Championships. This year's been really busy. I wasn't expecting to swim the times I had swum. I was kind of using it as a bit of a chill year, which has been quite the opposite. She'll join the rest of the dolphins tomorrow night for Oz versus the world, a showdown with the best of the rest. I think the calibre of people that have come out for it at this time of year shows the format is needed. People are looking for this within the sport. It's almost like a little bit of training, and I love training, so probably a bit more than racing. With the new points system, power plays and mystery events, Cam McAvoy is ready to dive into the new concept. We could certainly make a full system out of this and have a championship kind of in-season conference that leads up to a finals, and yeah, I think the world will get around it.
