Combs is accused of sex trafficking and racketeering, with allegations from former partners Cassandra Ventura and another woman, who testified about being coerced into sex acts and abuse. The court was shown surveillance footage of Combs assaulting Ventura, and prosecutors dropped some charges, including kidnapping and arson. The defense did not present witnesses, relying on cross-examination to challenge the prosecution's case. Judge Arun Subramanian instructed the jury on their responsibilities before deliberations resumed. If found guilty on all charges, Combs could face up to 15 years in prison.

After a seven-week trial, the jury will now decide whether or not Sean Combs is guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering. The hip-hop star and record producer, known variously in his career as Puff Daddy or P. Diddy, is accused of coercing former girlfriends to take part in sex parties with male escorts. Two of them, the rhythm and blues singer Cassandra Cassie Ventura and a woman referred to in court as Jane, told jurors that he forced them to have sex with the escorts while he watched, masturbated and occasionally filmed. Ventura tearfully told the court that Combs had raped her in 2018, after she ended their decade-long relationship. The court was also shown hotel surveillance footage of Combs beating and kicking Ventura. Prosecutors dropped some of the charges Combs faced, including kidnapping and arson. Rapper Scott Muscuti accused him of burning his car because he had been having an affair with Cassie Ventura. Combs' lawyers considered attack to be the best form of defense. The defense did not put on any witnesses and Combs did not testify on his own behalf, but they used their cross-examination. Their turn to question the prosecution witnesses to try to undercut those allegations. In closing arguments, right on the eve of deliberations, the defense implored the jury to consider all of the evidence and to acquit Combs. Before the jury convened, Judge Arun Subramanian reminded jurors of their obligation to deliberate and follow his instructions about the law, after concerns about one particular juror. Combs, 55, could face up to 15 years in prison if found guilty of all five of the charges he faces.
