Well, the approval by Israel's cabinet of the plan would be a dramatic shift in this already brutal and grinding war and comes as the Israeli military called up tens of thousands of reservist soldiers just this weekend. Now, critics inside Israel, most notably the hostages and missing families forum, have lashed out at the plan calling it, and I'm quoting here, a failed strategy since none of the 59 remaining hostages have been freed since Israel broke a ceasefire with Hamas six weeks ago and resumed its bombing campaign. Now, the forum also said the plan to expand military operations in Gaza, again I'm quoting here, was against the will of over 70 percent of the people in Israel. Now, if implemented, hundreds of thousands of already displaced Palestinians will be pushed to southern Gaza, only worsening an already dire humanitarian crisis. For two months now, Israel has blocked all food, water and medicine from entering the Palestinian territory, triggering what aid agencies are calling the worst humanitarian crisis there since the violence began nearly one and a half years ago. Violence which also saw the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen launch a ballistic missile on Sunday which hit the perimeter of Israel's main airport.
