A U-Haul truck drove into a crowd during a rally against the Iranian government in Los Angeles, resulting in two injuries. The Los Angeles Police Department arrested the 48-year-old driver on suspicion of reckless driving, but no formal charges have been filed as the investigation continues.

Officials are examining messages written on the side of the truck, which opposed the protesters' cause, to determine if they were present before the incident or added later. Authorities state there is no indication of terrorism, and the case will be reviewed by the Los Angeles City Attorney once all evidence is collected.

The LAPD says they've arrested the alleged driver, but he hasn't been officially charged. CBS News reporter Andres Gutierrez joining us live from Los Angeles. So Andres, what do we know about the signs on the side of the truck and what they could say about the driver's motives? Well, good evening, Juliette. Tonight, investigators are paying close attention to what was written on the side of that truck. LAPD says those messages were against what this crowd was demonstrating, and you can see how heated it got. Detectives and federal agents are now studying several pieces of video frame by frame to answer a very basic question. Were those signs already on the truck when the driver pulled up, or did any of that writing get put on after a protester surrounded the truck? The timing matters because the answer could help them figure out if the driver showed up there to make a political statement or if they were added later as things escalated. So for now, officials have not pinned down a clear motive and stress that there is no indication at this point that this was terrorism. Law enforcement have described this incident as a low speed chaotic encounter, not the kind of high speed ramming that they usually associate with a deliberate vehicle attack. So again, the signs on the side of that particular truck are a major clue, but have not yet been the final reason as to why this all went down. Yeah, understood. So do we know why police have not officially filed charges? Yes. So the LAPD has arrested the 48 year old driver and booked him on suspicion of reckless driving. No bail has been listed detectives right now working alongside the FBI and they're still collecting evidence or going through video and trying to also talk to witnesses and confirming how fast that truck was moving and who exactly was hurt. And once that evidence is all collected, the case will eventually go to the Los Angeles City attorney who will decide what to formally file and whether to hold off on more serious charges because of the injuries that were out here. We're pretty limited and they are not rushing to be deliberate and labeling this as attempted murder or terrorism. Juliet. Thank you so much.
