They say they are in a peace process, and then we learn that the war starts again. We are hurt, and we are very worried. Far from Washington, another reality is unfolding in eastern DRC. Here the sounds of boots has not stopped. Fighting between the Congolese army and the M23 rebels has intensified since Tuesday. Local sources report clashes in the Kamanyola and the Katugota areas of South Kivu. Our sources confirm a resurgence of hostilities. Politically, this agreement is historic. However, there is a cause of concern regarding its implementation. The mechanism of its implementation will not depend solely on written texts. Today, there are greater dangers linked to the possibility of shifting from armed conflict to unfair economic exploitation. Faced with the escalation, the Congolese army accuses the rebellion of violating the ceasefire. In response, AFC M23 rebuts and points at the armed forces denouncing bombings on their positions. A war of words that masks a human tragedy on the ground.
