An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer has been relieved of his duties after a video surfaced showing him shoving a woman into a wall and then to the ground at an immigration court in New York City. The incident, which involved the officer separating a woman and her daughter from a man reportedly being detained, led to widespread outrage and calls for disciplinary action.

ICE's assistant secretary described the officer's conduct as unacceptable, and the agency has launched a full investigation. The video, widely shared on social media, shows the woman being forcibly removed and later pleading with agents in Spanish. ICE has not disclosed how long the woman was held in a separate room, but confirmed that the officer involved is no longer performing his usual duties.

In one video shared on social media, a woman and a girl are seen clinging with locked arms to a man, reportedly the woman's husband, who is being detained on Thursday. Who was being detained, I should say. One masked agent grabs her hair as someone says, quote, just grab her, grab her and pull her away. Moments after the separating the woman and the man, she was then removed from the hallway into a nearby room. It's unclear how long she was in that room and then the video resumes with her in the hallway speaking to a federal agent saying, you guys don't care about anything in Spanish. The agent then replies, adios, adios. As the woman pleads and motions her hands towards the agent, ICE says it's conducting a full investigation into this incident.
