Hundreds of students from several schools in Charlotte, North Carolina, participated in walkouts to protest the presence and tactics of federal agents conducting immigration enforcement under Operation Charlotte's Web. Since the operation began, the Department of Homeland Security has reported over 200 arrests, including individuals with criminal backgrounds.

Local residents have expressed fear and concern, with some choosing to keep their businesses closed and children home from school. State and local officials, including Governor Josh Stein and the county sheriff, have cited a lack of communication from federal authorities, leading to uncertainty and challenges for the community.

Yeah, Mugo, more of the same in day four of what the federal government is calling Operation Charlotte's Web. As you pointed out, DHS says that it has arrested more than 200 people since they have been on the ground here in the Queen City since Saturday. Of that, they say that there are a significant number of people that they have detained with criminal backgrounds. As it relates to what you pointed out from what we saw this morning, hundreds of students walked out of several schools here in the district, one at East Mecklenburg High School, where we were able to capture some drone video of the students walking out in protest of the federal agents here in the city. We have continued to see video, dramatic video, of the tactics that these federal agents have been using to try to detain some of these individuals. There are reports of these agents outside of warehouse stores such as Home Depot, others being confronted in the driveway of their homes. There's a video of agents smashing a woman's window before detaining her. We were actually able to speak with a Honduran-born U.S. citizen who said that she has been closed since Saturday in fear for not only her family's safety, but also for her community's safety as well. She says that she is still working day by day to try to assess the situation, but says that she is going to remain closed, and she's also keeping her kids home from school for fear of them being approached or detained based off of what we have been seeing over the course of the last several days. You pointed out what Raleigh's mayor had to say. We also heard from Governor Josh Stein earlier today as well, who pointed out that he is unsure as to where these federal agents will target next. He also said that he's still unsure as to how long they will be here. We spoke to the sheriff just yesterday about that as well. He said that communication on the federal, state, and local level typically is relatively transparent, clear, and responsive, but as of the last several days, it has been relatively non-existent. And so a lot of challenges happening here between law enforcement and a lot of concerns within the community. Okay. Skyler Henry, live for us in Charlotte, North Carolina today.
