Heavy rainfall across Washington and Oregon has led to widespread flooding, with several rivers, including the Snoqualmie and Snohomish, reaching moderate or major flood stages. Some locations, such as Swift Creek in Washington, have recorded up to 12 inches of rain, and the rain is expected to continue, causing rivers to rise further.

Flood warnings remain in effect as the atmospheric river pattern persists, with temperatures running 10 to 20 degrees above average for this time of year. While Portland may see a brief break from the heaviest rain, the risk of flooding and mudslides continues for much of the Pacific Northwest, especially in low-lying and river-adjacent areas.

Alright, we're taking to the Pacific Northwest now. There are several reports of roads flooded and rivers also flooded at moderate or even major flood stage. You're seeing images of the Snoqualmie River near Carnation. It's been at moderate flood stage throughout the day, but no river gauge data shows it's expected to crest tomorrow at nearly 60 feet. That'll put the river in major flood stage and exacerbate this current flooding situation that we're seeing. And Jeff, the rain still falling down. It really is, and the rivers will continue to rise here. Some of these rivers will not crest until the end of the week. Very dangerous situation. Almost all small streams, creeks and rivers in some form. Even the short run rivers into the ocean or the Puget Sound with the Columbia River Valley we're dealing with some river flooding here and the right now the rain is shifted a little farther South into Portland. We've seen a foot of rain in areas like Swift Creek, Washington, June Lake 10.4 inches, North Fork, Oregon 9.9 inches of rain. The river flooding continues here. All these dark green counties and regions here are filled in because that's where there is active river flooding or soon to be active river flooding. Here we have the Snohomish River at Snohomish. You can see we've risen significantly now we're into moderate flooding, but maybe a temporary dip. But another big rise, a big rise into Thursday, Thursday night when we expect to see this river crest in Snohomish, Washington within maybe two or three inches of the record of 33.5 will be around 33.3 Thursday at 9 PM. Heavy rain continues for many of us, but it's not going to stop. It continues for many of us in the Pacific Northwest to all diverted around a big ridge of high pressure in the Southwest, so there's some warmth out there. 50s and 60s for some of the Northwest. It is relatively warm for this time of the year and farther South 70s, low 70s into Vegas. That's close to a record high, but overall there's going to be a bit of a shift northward with this atmospheric river pooling north, and that's going to give us a brief break into Portland. But into midday Wednesday and then moving forward into Wednesday afternoon, you can see some showers impact Portland, but the heavy rain certainly lifts north. Snow levels have been so high. This is mainly a rain event as opposed to a snow event for the lower passes some snow by the foot way up in the high ground. Temps are running about 10 to 20 degrees. In Spokane's case above historical average.
