The interior sections of the Northeast will finally get a break from the heat starting Wednesday. However, the I-95 corridor from New York City and Philadelphia down to Baltimore and D.C. will continue to sizzle with feels-like temperatures in the triple digits.

The interior Northeast is beginning to see relief from the recent heat wave as a cold front moves through the region, bringing cooler temperatures and increased cloud cover. Temperatures in areas such as Boston are expected to drop significantly, with some regions experiencing highs in the 60s and 70s after a period of near triple-digit heat.

However, the I-95 corridor, including major cities like New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., will continue to face high heat and humidity, with feels-like temperatures remaining in the triple digits. Scattered thunderstorms and showers are expected in parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and the Delmarva region, but these will be isolated and not widespread. Overnight temperatures are also forecast to cool, offering some respite in the coming days.

Heat wave continues in Mid-Atlantic; Relief for Northeast

If you're an outdoorsman or you'd like to just spend time outside, you have any plans as we head into midweek. Look at this. We got a cold front sliding south, at least for some of you in New England. And that's going to give you some nice relief. Easterly wind coming in, temperatures dropping by as much as 10 to 20 degrees. We'll be looking at some isolated or scattered activity in terms of storms and thunderstorms today for much of Pennsylvania, back into Ohio, down into the Delmarva. Looks like we could get it in Virginia. But again, it's isolated. 6 o'clock this evening, notice it's not widespread. We'll be watching those thunderstorms hit and miss. And cloud cover might be nice for some of you. But we still have a hot day where we're going to be absent of those showers. And then we head into your Thursday. Notice the activity with cloud cover comes back up into New England. Even the upstate region of New York looking like we'll get it up into Burlington. That continues into Friday. So the relief comes not only from the cold front, but the cloud cover and the showers as well. Saturday, still hanging out with some of that rainfall. So we could maybe pick up a couple of inches from now through Saturday. Cloud cover is definitely going to be helping. But let's go ahead and take a look at those numbers for a minute. So again, today, pick a spot, right? Caribou is the cool spot. But from Portland, Maine, all the way down to the Boston Harbor, stretching back into Jersey, we're talking temperatures yet again, 90, almost 100 degrees. But if you look at what happens as soon as tomorrow, Boston will drop to 70. We're talking huge temperature tumbles as we head into the next 24 hours with widespread 70s. And then going into Friday, some of us won't even get out of the 60s. So there's your cool down coming in. Again, not only from the cold front, but the cloud cover as well. Saturday, looks like we do get a bump in temperatures, which will be nice for your weekend. We'll be watching those storms as mentioned. But of course, that also means our overnight temperatures are going to be cooling down as well. We'll be going tomorrow morning, 60s, 70s. Okay, so we still have a little bit of that heat. By Friday morning, now we're starting to get closer to the 50s, low 60s. This will be nice, maybe an evening where you could actually open up the window.
