The Education Minister was keen to stress today that this is just one part of trying to improve safety in childcare centres and state and territories also have to play their part. There's another piece of legislation from the Education Portfolio that will be introduced tomorrow as well, a bill to wipe 20% off HECS help debts. Both bills are set to be supported by the Opposition. So business is finally going to start again at Parliament House. Today was all tradition and ceremony to declare the 48th Parliament open and the time for debate and lawmaking begins tomorrow.
