DNA evidence was instrumental in identifying at least one of the suspects, and ongoing searches have uncovered additional leads, including phones and other objects.

The stolen items, which include tiaras, earrings, and a brooch belonging to Napoleon Bonaparte's wife, were taken during a break-in on October 19. Authorities emphasize that recovering the missing jewels and improving security remain top priorities, as experts warn of a global rise in museum thefts targeting gold, silver, and diamonds.

What I can say is that one of them has been a target for investigators ever since we uncovered DNA traces linking him from our point of view to the theft that was committed. Every new arrest and discovery leads investigators closer to their objective of retrieving the stolen jewels. First of all we have the evidence found at the crime scene. There is CCTV footage and as searches continue they find phones and other objects. So one can never say an investigation is complete as long as there are still leads to follow. It's a story which has gripped the art world. On the morning of October 19th as visitors roamed the Louvre, intruders broke in through an upstairs window snatching eight pieces of jewellery in just four minutes. Among stolen artifacts were tiaras, earrings and a brooch belonging to the wife of Napoleon Bonaparte. While the latest arrests are cause for celebration, retrieving the missing loot and upping security remain big concerns. The windows seem worn old-fashioned. It looks like a simple pane of glass. Looking closely at the building it doesn't seem an impossible job to me. Actually it looks easy. I thought the suspects had fled abroad, that we would never catch them and I'm happy with this outcome, that's for sure. Now we have to find the jewels, that's the most important thing. Finding the jewels will be crucial in preventing copycat heists at other museums around the world, experts say. What we've seen in the last 10 years is that there has been a rise in museum thefts and before they stole paintings, famous paintings, but the last decade we see more and more gold, silver and diamonds being stolen and there's a logic behind it because if you steal a painting, a famous painting, it's very hard to sell because everybody knows it and objects from gold and silver, you can melt them down. Investigators believe the latest arrests have drawn them closer to retrieving the loot.
