Detroit police confirmed late Saturday night that two people were killed, and two others injured in a mass-stabbing event that happened at a pool party on Detroit's east side.

Police in Detroit are investigating a stabbing at a pool party that resulted in four people being injured, two of them fatally. According to Deputy Chief Arnold Williams, the incident began with an argument involving a woman at the party, which escalated when a male suspect stabbed four adults.

The victims include a woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s who died, while the two surviving victims are in critical and stable condition. Authorities have identified a person of interest but have not yet made an arrest. The motive is believed to be related to a dispute at the gathering.

Okay. Deputy Chief Arnold Williams, A-R-N-O-L-D-W-I-L-L-I-A-M-S, Deputy Chief Eastern Operations. Just before 10 o'clock this evening, we had received a call that there was possibly somebody stabbed. Officers came and they made the location. Upon making the location, we discovered we had several individuals stabbed. So after the preliminary investigation, we had four people stabbed, two were stabbed fatally and two were stabbed non-fatally. Of the two that were stabbed non-fatally, one is in critical condition and the other one is stable. Everybody was adults. Three of the victims were in their 30s, one was in their 20s. This was basically a pool party that was taking place and there was an argument that started over a woman who was at the pool party. From that argument, one male suspect stabbed four of our victims. We do have a person of interest and we have that person identified. So they're not in custody, but we are looking for them at this time. The victim that was fatally stabbed, was that person in their 20s or 30s? Yes, so it was a female victim who was in her 20s and then the male victim, he was in his 30s. And you said that this comes from a woman. What is the relationship between the suspect and the woman? They possibly have a dating relationship, but we haven't confirmed that yet. That's just preliminarily what we're getting. And you said this started as an altercation? Yes. Any message to the community? Just the same message that we continue to put out. Over these last couple of days, we've had just this rash of violence that's just unexplainable. This again is one of those incidents. We've had four people who were stabbed because someone said something or someone may have touched somebody and that is not how we deal with any type of conflict. We have to do better. We have to do better. For this incident, this incident is basically from a party. Somebody said something or did something that somebody else didn't like and then because of that, we have four victims who are at least, one is fighting for his life right now and two have lost theirs.
