Additional troops, drones, tracker dogs, and excavation equipment are being deployed to assist ongoing search and rescue operations.

The village of some 200 residents, which sits at an altitude of 1,150 metres, is a tourist hotspot with popular pilgrimage sites, but it is located in the Himalayan region where intense downpours are increasingly common, making it prone to floods and landslides. But on Tuesday it was engulfed by torrents of water, mud and rocks. Disaster relief workers rescued some 70 people on Wednesday and 130 the night before via any possible means. But access to the site remains limited for rescue services as roads leading to the village have either partially crumbled or are blocked by boulders from the landslides. The flash flood also swept away mobile and electricity towers, disrupting travel and communications. The army's central command says more troops with drones, tracker dogs and excavation equipment are being sent as part of the rescue efforts.
