A Hunt, Texas family has shared their story, along with some haunting video, of their experience in the deadly Fourth of July flooding in the Texas Hill Country.

A family in Hunt, Texas, described their escape from rapidly rising floodwaters during severe flooding in the Texas Hill Country. As water entered their home, the family climbed over kitchen cabinets and into the attic, eventually breaking through a metal vent to reach the roof, where they remained for several hours.

The family, including a young child, endured the ordeal as floodwaters nearly reached them on the roof. They credited a nearby tree with preventing further damage to their home. The experience left them reflecting on their survival and the greater losses suffered by others in the community. Authorities are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the disaster.

A family living in hard hit hunts about 13 miles west of Kerr Ville said they had to climb over their kitchen cabinets, climb into the attic as floodwaters rushed into their home. Fox four's David Centendry has their story, which is. Just really dramatic, David. Heather This is just one of many unbelievable stories of survival that we are hearing right now. I mean, I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do. We're flooded right now. I think the main thing we might have to do is go up. In the attic space, which is right there. Look because we can't go out in the yard. The cards are floating away. What do we tell in the refrigerator is going underwater? Who do we tell? We have to tell someone Jane Towler recording video of her flooded home scrambling to get out. I was in the attic and I was in the attic. I was in the attic. I was in the attic. I was in the attic. I was into the attack. Hatch Towler's son, Alden Towler describes the two along with a family friend and her one year old daughter climbing to high shelter. This had a metal vent. I was able to bash this out. And then we spent about 2.5 hours just on this little roof landing right here. Towler will never comprehend what his daughter went through. It was just a horrible experience. I just can't even imagine what she was going through. I think she was experiencing what I was experiencing times 10 or 100, you know, as a new mom. And so I was just trying to give her physical comfort and just reminding her like we're going to be okay flooding nearly reaching them on the roof, and you can see the water line where it crested. And stayed there for about a hour was just right there. Towler points to a tree, which he says blocked a house from crashing into their home. Ultimately the four survived. All this is just too incomprehensible for me to like have feelings related to this. Like my feelings are just with like. Are surviving and people who, um, had much worse experiences than us. Towler has been in the water for years. He's been in the water for years, and he's been in the water for years, and he's been waking up with his cousins on the Guadalupe River. Now new memories darker than he could have ever imagined the loss of human life that I witnessed the family's broken apart. The injuries, the trauma. It's just all it's also tragic. Obviously a devastating natural disaster, but taller like many others is wondering if the family could have gotten out sooner.
