to CBS Sports is Jim Nance that is covering the Masters for a remarkable 40th year in a row. And it's his 37th year as host. He joins us from Augusta National Golf Club, Jim. Good morning to you, my friend. Good morning. Hello, friends. There's nothing like this springtime tradition. I'm like a kid in a candy store being back at Augusta again and ready for this tournament. It's just started with a few groups off the first tee, but we're thrilled to be here. And for CBS, the 70th consecutive year, the greatest relationship in sports television is a relationship between our network and the Augusta National Golf Club. How about that? Jim, we dug up an old article from 1986, where you talked about calling your first Masters. And you said, quote, I was sitting there and doggone, I had goosebumps. You still get goosebumps when you are calling this event. I do right now. I'm talking to you, Nate. I mean, what can I say? No, I truly do. I don't want to minimize that at all. This is the childhood dream when I was growing up and listening to the broadcasters of my youth. It just made such an impression on me. This was my goal. This really mapped out what I wanted my life to look like. I wanted to work for CBS because I wanted to be here broadcasting the Masters tournament. So I come here every year with a very grateful heart. Jim, we're so grateful to even hear your voice. It like sets the tone. It's a whole vibe in and of itself, isn't it? It is. So defending Masters champion Scotty Scheffler, he obviously wants to be a repeat winner. Hasn't been done in more than two decades when Tiger did it. What do you think is key to him possibly getting that repeat win? I don't have to really pin it down to any one thing. I think he's primed to play well here. The course sets up for his game so well. He's won two of the last three years also, not just last year. So to win three out of four would be a first. And you look at what Scotty's done in recent weeks. His form's really come around. He played just super down in Houston two weeks ago. I expect he is the man to beat. But there are so many possibilities. Trying to predict a winner of a golf tournament is almost impossible to do. So Jim, it's Vlad. You know there have only been three repeat champs at the Masters. Tiger, Nick Faldo and Jack Nicholas. Why is it such a difficult feat? It's just it's a gathering of the world's greatest players. And there are other players that come in here and deny them that chance to go back to back. And yeah, you know, Nick worked alongside in the 18th Tower for years. And we were here to document his back to back conquest. And of course, we were here for Tiger when he did his thing over 20 years ago. And it's just, it's very rare. And Jack Nicholas, by the way, is coming into the Butler cabin here in just a couple of minutes to sit down and go through his entire incredible history here with six green jackets at Augusta. I love the footage and loved hearing Jack, you know, self deprecate there as he's ready to hit his first shot. And anyway, there's nothing that in the world of sports that brings together the past, the present and the future like the Masters golf tournament. And there's a vibe, there's a feeling that little melody. You guys have played the Augusta theme that sets the mood to, you know, it's just, there's something about this springtime ritual that's so special. No doubt about it.
