Upon their arrival in Luxembourg on Monday, the European Union's foreign ministers expressed their hope that the meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin would bring an end to the war in Ukraine. However, the location of this meeting poses a problem. The presence of Vladimir Putin on the territory of the European Union only makes sense if it allows an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. The controversy stems from the fact that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban disagrees with the majority of the EU on the war in Ukraine. In addition, the Russian president is under an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court. No, it's not nice, I mean, to see that really a person put to the arrest warrant by the ICC is coming to a European country and again, you know, the question is whether there is any outcome out of this. To enable this meeting to take place, EU member states will have to open their airspace, which has been closed to Russian aircraft since 2022. However, diplomatic exemptions are possible.
