Lawmakers, survivors, and journalists have criticized the extent of the redactions and the lack of transparency. Calls for accountability have intensified, with some officials facing scrutiny over their handling of the disclosures and demands for more information to be made available to the public.

Survivors, it seems, probably won't see all of the so-called Epstein files made public before the New Year, even though the Justice Department was supposed to release them ten days ago. Since that deadline, we've seen the photos, the videos, the audio files, and troves of documents released, but most have been highly redacted. The law signed by the president back in November requires justice to only redact in specific circumstances. Scripps News National correspondent Alex Miller, live right now in New York, she has the latest on this. And Alex, how much more information are we likely to see? We don't exactly know, Del, but we do know that the Justice Department says that they have received more than a million new documents that they need to go through. They say this information comes from the Southern District of New York and that it could take weeks to go through and redact that information. And as you mentioned, there are very strict rules on how they are supposed to redact this information. It is supposed to protect the victims, protect national security, protect a future pending investigation. But from what we can tell from the files that we have seen so far, it looks as though the Justice Department has gone far above and beyond that with some of their redactions. They also have to explain their redactions, and we have not really seen that either. Now, these investigations, we do not know how these files, these million documents have come to the surface, whether how they came to be and why they weren't part of the DOJ's purview at that time. Now, they are from investigations that are roughly six years old. We know that Epstein was arrested in 2019. Maxwell was arrested almost a year to the day later. Now, this comes as we have seen three major document dumps, as you mentioned. Only one of them was by the deadline. The last one we saw was six days ago. About 30,000 pages were in that. But still, from all of the document dumps that we have seen so far, no names have been given. Reasons for redaction still remain unclear. Congressman Thomas Massey had said weeks ago that he expected to see about 20 names, and we have, again, not seen any of them there. The Attorney General, Pam Bondi, has been heavily criticized by Massey. He posted in a tweet that her egregious violation of the legislation that Trump signed is not that she ignores the deadline, he wrote in a tweet. He said that it is that she is redacting the names of the accused sex offenders and internal communications by this, about the decisions, wrongly citing old rules that are overridden by new law. He also put together a poll on his ex account asking if she should be impeached. It's something that he's been very clear that he is mulling over. And he's also posted a video earlier today about the speaker, Mike Johnson, kind of contradicting himself in Massey's view about Trump's involvement and beliefs in this entire saga. Now, there is a new interview coming out of the New York Times with Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is set to resign her office in less than a week now. And she's doing so, at least in part, she says, because of the hate that she has gotten from becoming such a prominent spokesperson about this issue. After meeting with survivors, she says that she became incredibly moved. And in this interview, she sheds a little bit of light into her interactions with the president on this. She said that she had expressed perplexity of his intransigence, basically saying, why have you not changed your mind at this? And he said, according to her, that his friends were going to get hurt, according to this interview that she did with the New York Times. She also urged him to invite victims to the Oval Office. And he said that they had done nothing, according to this article, to merit that honor. And according to this interview, this was the last phone conversation that they had. Now, again, we also still have not seen all the materials dealt from the House Oversight Committee. We've seen Congressman Robert Garcia, who's the top Democrat on the committee, asking the Department of Justice to investigate certain things that have now come out in the files, particularly Maria Farmer's report. She is the young girl who reported this to the FBI in 1996. We saw that report in that first dump that we saw by the deadline. When we spoke to her attorney that day, she was thrilled to see that this document had come out but wanted to see more information for survivors, more details for survivors. Obviously, they want to see people be named and their information get out there. Alex, before I let you go, quickly, reporters have been poring over these files now for more than a week. But yesterday, one of those reporters found out that she was in the files. Yeah, it was Julie K. Brown. She is probably the top reporter on this, broke in a lot of news about this story. She said that she expected, at least in part, to be in these files because of her reporting. What she did not expect, according to this tweet that she posted earlier yesterday, was to see her flight records put out there. You can see there that she took a flight on July 6, 2019. That's the day that Jeffrey Epstein was arrested. And during that first Trump administration, she said here, She looked, I guess, for her maiden name and was able to find that this was part of the files. Again, this happened the day that Epstein was arrested. Many Democrats and some Republicans are also voicing their support for her and asking the Department of Justice to explain why this information is even in their purview.
