During the Ashes Test in Sydney, Australia was dismissed for 567 runs, with Bo Webster remaining not out on 71. England's captain Ben Stokes suffered a groin injury early in the day, and Steve Smith was unexpectedly dismissed in the fifth over.

England began their second innings with an early wicket loss but built a partnership through Jacob Bethel and Ben Duckett. Despite some aggressive batting, England lost wickets at regular intervals but managed to build a lead as the match moves into day five.

We wondered if this was going to happen at some point and the disappointment on that face tells you. Perhaps even more unexpected, Smith was dismissed fifth over of the day. Mitchell Stark couldn't get going and Scott Boland didn't last a ball. Australia all out for 567, Webster on a red ink 71. England back in bat, Mitchell Stark struck straight away. Zach Crawley gone, Jacob Bethel and Ben Duckett started building. At times it was brutal. Duckett given a life on 38. The opener couldn't capitalise, chopping on after lunch and maybe it was the warm Sydney weather but Joe Root got out for just six runs, set up by Scott Boland. Bethel built a good innings and it was a very nervous 90s and when Webster was brought on to ball, he charged. Harry Brooke had been solid at the other end until Webster got it turning, Will Jacks opted for buzz ball and it didn't work out. England continues to build its lead heading into day five.
