A young Kemp's ridley sea turtle named LN was released into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Coney Island after recovering from cold-stunning. The turtle had been found in a weakened state during the previous winter and was cared for by the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society.

The release event was attended by onlookers, youth from the New York Aquarium, and state and environmental leaders. The effort was supported by New York's environmental protection fund, which plays a key role in ocean and coastal restoration projects.
