Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli emphasized the need for adherence to international law and coordination among all Nile riparian countries to prevent harm.

The discussions also addressed broader national, regional, and international issues, including the displacement of Sudanese refugees. Egypt currently hosts over 1.5 million Sudanese refugees, while more than seven million people have been internally displaced due to conflict in Sudan. The two countries agreed to implement joint technical and political committees to address these challenges.

I can say with all confidence that there is agreement and that there is consensus in all these issues, the national, regional and international issues that have come up today. And we will implement these issues through mechanism as well as joint technical and political committees between the two countries. Egypt has long opposed the construction of the dam because it will reduce the country's share of Nile River waters, a key source for most of the Egyptian agriculture and its more than 100 million people. Egypt hosts the largest number of Sudanese refugees from the war, with over 1.5 million people who fled north across the border. Over seven million have been displaced internally as the war engulfed much of the country.
