With fighting shifting slowly away from Sudan's capital Khartoum, an increasing number of refugees have been returning from abroad. Egypt's government has now proposed free train travel to refugees going back to Sudan.

Egypt has launched an initiative to provide free train transportation for Sudanese refugees who wish to return to their home country. The program is organized in coordination with Sudanese institutions, including the Military Industry Corporation, and the Egyptian authorities.

The trains travel from Egypt to Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, which was recently recaptured by government forces. Egypt currently hosts over 1.5 million Sudanese refugees, the largest number on the continent, following the mass displacement caused by conflict in Sudan.

This is being carried out with high-level coordination and planning with Egyptian authorities. The trains run from Egypt to Sudan's capital Khartoum, which the Sudanese government forces recaptured from the paramilitary RSF earlier this year.
