The proposal would see the course reduced from 18 to nine holes, with the addition of a 90-bay driving range, cycling paths, a community sports field, and a mini golf experience. While proponents argue the changes will provide greater public benefit and recreational opportunities, some golfers and community members have voiced opposition, suggesting alternative proposals that retain the full course.

The state opposition has expressed concerns that the redevelopment could ultimately lead to the closure of the golf course. The draft plans are currently open for public feedback. Meanwhile, the opposition has also announced intentions to proceed with large-scale housing and public space projects in other parts of Sydney if elected.

Turning the green into public green space, first look at the ambitious new plans for Moorpark golf course. It's about making sure that we're getting the most beneficial use out of a space, out of a public space. The redevelopment includes a 90 bay driving range, cycling paths and a community sports field but nine fewer holes on the course itself. Sure it might be a nine hole course, there'll be additional driving bays, there'll be a mini golf experience so the golf offering remains at just changes. We still think there is a way in which you can keep 18 holes and deliver even more recreational facilities than what they put out today. Those opposed say their alternative proposal offers the best of both worlds. We'd like for the Premier to meet with us because we're confident that if he saw our proposal with his own eyes he would see that our proposal is actually a win for all the community. The draft plans are now open for public feedback but the state opposition's already made its feelings clear. Mark Speakman fears this could spell the end for the golf course as a whole as he turns his attention to Sydney's west. If elected, a coalition government says it will proceed with plans for up to 10,000 new homes and public space infrastructure at Rose Hill. Now is the time to get on with it and deliver 10,000 new homes for people in Western Sydney. In addition to the 12,000 extra homes he also wants to build at the site of Long Bay Jail.
