Characters such as Star Wars' R2-D2 and Cars' Lightning McQueen will be available for AI-driven video creation.

The agreement has prompted concern from creative industry unions, who state that their members have not been compensated for the licensing of these characters and will not benefit from AI-generated content that uses their work. Industry leaders, including the Screen Actors Guild president, have described the rapid advancement of AI in Hollywood as overwhelming.
