Severe flooding in western Alaska has forced thousands of residents to evacuate, with many unable to return for at least 18 months. Satellite images of Kipnuk reveal extensive damage from the remnants of Typhoon Halong, including homes destroyed or swept away entirely. 

At least 121 homes have been confirmed as completely destroyed, and the harsh arctic winter is expected to delay repairs further. Approximately 1,600 evacuees are anticipated to arrive in Anchorage as the region braces for a prolonged recovery.
