It was a tremendous opportunity to get the word out that said, man, just hold on, you can make it. You can do this. You've got this. To encourage, to motivate, to alarm people that just because you get diagnosed with that C-word, that don't mean we can't win this battle. And I'm thankful that God chose me to sound the alarms for everyone to know that we can win this fight. Some people don't even know me from sports. That's the guy that kicked Candice's butt, and I'm happy about that. Two sons now getting opportunities to play in the NFL. Incredible. As you well know, it is not always a smooth journey. As their mentor, who seemingly wins at everything in life, what's your message about learning from losses and setbacks from your own playing days and even now? I'm happy that this is another opportunity for them to reach inside of them and bring something out that they never, I believe, that had to fight and bring out before. Because now we have more really good, interesting conversations, not just about football, but about faith, about the Lord, about timing and about work ethic and all of that, man. So it has opened up a plethora of things for us to articulate to each other in life. It makes me keep my daddy role, you know, my daddy role on point. I know you're focused on the Buffaloes, being a dual-sport superstar yourself. I got to ask, with this MLB playoff push happening, any team you have going all the way, what excited you most about baseball this time of year back in your day? Because it gets real. Every pitch matters. It gets real, like you really working the count, you really moving the runners, you really doing some things. I got a baseball bat back here, so I got a glove. I keep the game close to me. But I don't follow as much, but I like the playoffs because it's real. I do like that the game has been expedited, like it's a quicker, faster game, and I like that the guys are allowing their personalities to flow. I love that. See, the Latin guys and the brothers have always done that, but now you got everybody, you know, they doing their thing, man, and I love it. I love the personalities that are flowing in baseball. They're just finally catching up to you, Coach. You are perhaps the greatest and most well-known unicorn, as they say in the sports world, a one of a kind. So how do you describe what you see when you see someone like Shohei Ohtani doing what he's doing today? Unbelievable. The reason I really like it because I think he is unbelievable, first and foremost. But you know how many other kids would have loved that opportunity to allow these guys to hit and pitch? I love it because it opens doors for more of these young men that are capable, that have been told, no, you're either going to do one or the other for life. So I like that. You know, our pitchers used to always hit before the game, you know, when I was with the Braves, and shoot. Avery and Smoltz and Glavin, those guys used to launch, man. I mean, they used to, you know, knock it out of the park. It was like, wow. Talk some ball with me. What team or player do you think is going to make some noise in the NFL this season? Man, to be honest with you, I do not follow the NFL, man. I'm so deep and wrapped up in the college football and what I do here, I ain't got time for that. Like, I'm here. Like, I am where my feet is. I am right here. And I absolutely love it. I'm sitting up here looking over the practice and the grades that we have in practice and all of that. I don't give a darn about those initials anymore. I care about the college football and the Colorado Buffaloes.
