Severe storms will threaten college football games and your outdoor weekend plans across the Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee valleys on Saturday.

A slight risk for severe weather has been identified across several southern US cities, including Paducah, Memphis, Little Rock, Shreveport, and Jackson. The forecast includes a 5% probability of tornadoes and a 'torque con' rating of three, indicating a moderate risk for tornado activity.

The main threat period is expected from the afternoon into the evening, with a squall line potentially affecting areas from Missouri through Tennessee and into Louisiana. Damaging winds, large hail, and the possibility of tornadoes are the primary concerns, with some potential for localized flooding. The situation may evolve as the cold front moves east, and the risk could lessen if the front slides underneath the storm line.

Here are the areas that we're looking at for a SPC slight risk. Paducah, Memphis, Little Rock, Shreveport, Jackson. There's also a 5% tornado probability in that. So a torque con of three on our, the way that we do it here. There's our torque con at three. Paducah, you're in this. Memphis, Jonesboro. And this looks like an afternoon into the evening situation. And this is pretty close to Nashville. All right, so once that, what we call QLCS, or squall line gets going, it's gonna keep going right through middle Tennessee. So low level winds will increase as the front comes closer to us, but we're gonna be screaming out of the West Southwest with the upper level jet here. So lots of speed shear. Now here's what I was talking about in terms of interesting. Look at the energy. You got this thin little area, all right, that we're talking about. We may be ongoing severe, certainly, up into Missouri. Not to mention you may even get a little flood up and through there. But this is the part of the line that I'm gonna watch, because look at this little kind of Cape Void that we have over Arkansas, all right? There's just not a lot there. And the storms kind of disappear, and then they develop farther South. So do we get kind of a jump down into Louisiana with these storms as we get towards Saturday at nine o'clock then you've got the whole QLCS coming together, the cold front sliding East quickly. Does it slide underneath the line? Sometimes that happens. That would lessen the risk. But Nashville all the way down toward Jackson and West of Birmingham.
