It's the richest horse race on turf in the world. 50,000 punters have hit the track in Sydney for The Everest — and it wasn’t just about the bets, but also the fashion, glamour, and celebrities.

The Everest, held at Sydney's Royal Randwick, attracted a crowd of approximately 50,000 people, many of whom embraced the event's blue-themed fashion brief. Notable attendees included Count Nikolai, nephew of Queen Mary of Denmark, alongside prominent figures from the worlds of fashion and sport. 

The event, which has grown significantly since its inception in 2017, now stands as the largest race day in Sydney, with more than half of attendees aged under 26. Festivities included significant food and beverage consumption, and fashion trends for the season highlighted wide-brim hats and larger accessories.

And that's what makes the event itself the real winner. Since it started in 2017, the Everest has grown into the biggest race day on the Sydney calendar. Oh, of course. Yeah, it fills you up for the day before you get on all the beers. Up the chimney! And when the chips were down, well, they really went down. 1.2 tonne of chips consumed today, along with the wine, sparkling and champagne.
