The couple, described as devoted parents and community members, lost their lives while attempting to stop the attacker and were set to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary.

Other victims, including Boris Tettleroyd, Edith Brutman, and Tanya Tretyak, were also honored. The Jewish community and broader public expressed solidarity and support for the victims' families, emphasizing the courage and selflessness shown during the attack.

Boris and Sophia Gurman, in life and death, always by each other's sides. They were not only devoted parents and partners, but in every sense of the word, heroes. Together, they were the first to confront the Bondi gunman. 69-year-old Boris managed to wrestle a long-arm firearm off one, before being shot dead alongside his beloved Sophia. She would have turned 62 this week. Sophia was a beautiful woman. She was a very caring lady. She loved everybody. Everybody loved her. I've had customers that go to there and just now come in and say how sad they are that they're going to miss her. And they want to keep their PO boxes, purely because she wanted them to. Boris and Sophia were taken from us, not just because they were Jewish, but fighting for being Jewish. The couple was set to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary next month. Instead, today, farewelled by hundreds of mourners from near and far. I landed a few hours ago and I'm drawn to be here to tell my brothers and sisters who have suffered so mercilessly that they're not alone. The Jewish community in New York stands with you. A community wrapped its arms around their only son, Alex, as did a country. We're not just Jews, we're Australian. We're Australian Jews. And they were Australian. They lived the Australian dream and they died defending the Australian dream. While Boris and Sophia German's loved ones say nothing can lessen their pain, they still feel an overwhelming sense of pride in the selflessness they showed on that grim day. Their love, care and commitment now forever a beacon, shining over the place they loved most in the world. They were often genuinely perplexed when people spoke about travelling overseas, wondering why you'd ever leave when paradise was right at your front door, just down the road at Bondi Beach. One of his sons was also shot and still remains in hospital. Meanwhile, Edith Brutman has also been remembered as a devoted member of the Jewish community. And late this afternoon, Tanya Tretyak was named as the 15th and final victim of the Bondi Beach attack. An eastern suburbs local, Tanya was at the beach celebrating Hanukkah.

The man was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside of a storage facility in New Hampshire, investigators believe he acted alone.
