A 19-year-old college student, Annie Lopez-Beloza, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Boston's Logan Airport while traveling to Texas and subsequently deported to Honduras, despite a judge's court order prohibiting her removal. Lopez-Beloza, who arrived in the United States from Honduras at age eight and was studying at Babson College on a merit scholarship, was reportedly unaware of a 2015 removal order against her.

Her attorney stated that Lopez-Beloza's family believed their immigration case had been resolved, and her story was highlighted in Congress during discussions on the DREAM Act, which seeks to protect young immigrants brought to the U.S. as children. The Department of Homeland Security maintained that she was subject to removal, while her legal team continues efforts to bring her back to the country.

Now with the Trump administration ramping up immigration enforcement, deportation efforts all across the country, there are more and more scenes like this one out of Miami, a woman pulled from her car, pleading for help. She is a U.S. citizen, and ICE agents released her after confirming that fact. Other stories end differently. We're learning more this morning about a 19-year-old college student headed home, or was, and detained on that journey, trying to get on a plane to Boston, or getting on a plane in Boston to Texas. Despite a judge's order, she was deported to Honduras, as Jerika Duncan reports. It's a phone call Annie Lopez-Beloza never dreamed she'd have to make. I was like, Mom, I got deported, I'm here. The 19-year-old was on her way home to Texas to surprise her family for Thanksgiving. Instead, she was arrested at Boston's Logan Airport. I was like, oh, but I have to board my plane right now. And they were like, oh, you're not even going to be on that plane. And that's where it kind of like hit me, this is ICE. Two days later, she was in Honduras, despite a judge issuing a court order that she not be deported. Her attorney, Todd Pomelo. If the government can just avoid court orders and do what it wants, we effectively are living in a lawless society. In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security says Lopez-Beloza is an illegal alien who had an order of removal issued in 2015. But her attorney says his client came from Honduras to the U.S. at eight years old with her mom, who was seeking asylum. Lopez-Beloza, according to Pomelo, was not aware of any removal order. Her parents told her that it was resolved favorably, and that's all she ever thought. That's what their lawyer told them. She spent most of her life in Texas and earned a merit scholarship to study business at Babson College in Massachusetts. I want to tell you about one of these dreamers. Her story was shared on Capitol Hill Wednesday as Democratic Senator Dick Durbin reintroduced the DREAM Act, which would provide protections for hundreds of thousands like Lopez-Beloza. Is there any chance that she's going to be allowed back into this country? I promised her we're not stopping until she's brought back. For CBS Mornings, I'm Jerika Duncan. That's such a scary story. I really feel for that young woman who's been here since she's eight, you know, if the whole mission is about going after the hardened criminals. But their argument is she came here illegally and that she ignored a deportation order that she said she knew nothing about from years ago. Yeah. I mean, mass deportations mean mass deportations. The Trump administration is doing what it said it was going to do. What's tragic is that for years, Congress has been trying to pass legislation to help children in particular who didn't make a decision to come, but to come with parents to protect them. To protect them. Yeah. Particularly if they're students and they're doing the right things. I just have so many questions about the who, the how, the why. How did they get her? Yeah.
