According to a CNBC All-America Economic Survey, 62% of the public says they are satisfied with their ability to attain quality health care, especially Medicare recipients.

A CNBC survey of 1,000 Americans found that 81% of seniors and 78% of Medicare recipients are satisfied with their access to health care. In contrast, satisfaction rates are lower among those with private insurance, working class Americans, and especially women aged 18 to 49.

The survey also reports that one third of respondents or their family members have delayed health care due to cost, with younger women and working class individuals most affected. Political opinions on health care costs and government responsibility are divided, with a majority supporting government-provided health insurance, but significant differences exist between party lines.

CNBC Survey: 81% of seniors satisfied with health care access

Steve Wiesman joins me now to dig into those survey findings. Steve. Cuba's not exactly right. Our survey finds 62 percent of the public says they are satisfied with their ability to obtain quality health care, including majorities of those who have private and government health insurance, but especially those Medicare recipients. Eighty one percent of seniors and 78 percent of Medicare recipients say they're satisfied with their access to health care. That compares. Sixty percent of those on private insurance, 55 percent for working class Americans and 46 percent. That's the low there for women 18 to 49 key in that childbearing years. One third of the sample of 1000 Americans we surveyed nationwide report that they or a family member put off health care because they could not afford it. Cuban's right in that regard. That includes 59 percent of women 18 to 49 compared with 22 percent for women 50 and over. It's 34 percent for Democrats and even 25 percent for Republicans. A big gap here with 42 percent for the working class say they have skipped the medical treatment compared with just 15 percent for the wealthy Democrats leading Republicans 45 to 27, which party would do a better job reducing health care costs. 19 percent say neither Republicans. They hold a 39 to 24 advantage on which party is best to control overall government spending. Twenty nine percent say neither is any good at the job. Fifty seven percent of the public say it's the responsibility of the government to provide health insurance to all Americans, with 41 percent saying it's not. The majority includes 90 percent of Democrats, 58 percent of Republicans of independents and 24 percent of Republicans. And Morgan, that's why we have a shutdown.
