In the first eight months of 2025, China exported $122 billion worth of goods to Africa, while African exports to China grew by 2.3 percent to $87 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of nearly $60 billion for Africa.

Machinery, heavy equipment, automobiles, and metal products are the primary Chinese exports to Africa. In 2024, bilateral trade between China and Africa reached a record $295 billion. To support African exports, China has waived tariffs for 53 African countries with which it maintains diplomatic relations.

In a bid to boost African exports, China has this year waived tariffs for 53 countries with which it has diplomatic ties.
