Brisbane police conducted a raid at a Rocklea warehouse, targeting an international syndicate allegedly responsible for stealing over 60 Toyota vehicles valued at approximately $9 million. The operation led to the arrest of seven men from various countries and the recovery of 15 stolen vehicles, some of which were found at major Australian ports.

Authorities allege the group used advanced technology to bypass security systems and ship the vehicles overseas for resale. The suspects face more than 380 charges, with five remaining in custody and two released on bail as investigations continue.

Scaling a spiked steel fence in the dark to find a global gang who had tried to cruise under the police radar. Police officers and the dog squad swarmed this Rockley warehouse last month searching for Toyotas allegedly stolen by an international syndicate. And there were police everywhere. I'd say maybe seven or eight units. Not something we're used to seeing in the yard or in the street. Inside, officers cut open a shipping container. They found two stolen LandCruisers concealed behind piles of dismantled wrecks and spare parts. And just noticed at late hours of the day just random drop-offs with the containers coming in and then the trucks coming out with no containers. It led to the arrest of this man and soon after the rest of the gang met the same fate. Both of you gentlemen are under arrest for stealing a motor vehicle. We'll be alleging that the syndicate sent a number of shipping containers with vehicles, whole vehicles in them from Brisbane to the United Arab Emirates where we believe they were being sold for profit, second-hand vehicles. It all began in October when a group of men from Brazil, Fiji, Japan and Afghanistan allegedly flew into Brisbane with a plan. Within weeks, more than 60 LandCruisers and Prados worth around $9 million vanished. Kelly Hodge is one of the victims. We thought it was our eyes playing tricks on us because you don't expect your car just to be gone and not hear a thing and we have dogs who bark at everything. Police say the thieves used sophisticated technology they brought with them from overseas to bypass the car's top-notch security systems. I knew exactly what had happened with the drilling into the door and pulling out the cable and deleting the keys and starting recoding their own keys. Seven men have now been charged with more than 380 offences. Five remain behind bars while two have been released on bail. Out of the 60 cars stolen, 15 have been recovered.
