Shares of Blackstone and other housing-related companies declined after President Trump posted on Truth Social about taking immediate steps to ban large institutional investors from purchasing single family homes. Trump stated he would call on Congress to codify this ban, citing concerns about housing affordability and the American dream being out of reach for many, especially younger Americans.

The announcement led to a drop of more than 6 percent in Blackstone shares and pressured home builders such as Lennar and Invitation Homes. The S&P Home Builder Index also fell, with most of its constituents declining. Trump plans to discuss the proposal further during a speech in Davos, Switzerland.

So just once again reiterating the headlines here the president posting a truth social tweet that he is going to address the affordability concerns of many Americans especially when it comes to residential housing saying that the American dream is increasingly out of reach and he is taking immediate steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single family homes. And he will be calling on Congress to codify this. He will be discussing this topic and more at a speech in Davos in two weeks.
