U.S. President Joe Biden has been campaigning in the critical swing state of Pennsylvania, focusing his attention on African American voters. Biden reaffirmed his intention to run for the White House, despite concerns about his age and calls from some Democrats for a change in leadership.

Speaking to an African-American congregation at Mount Airy Church in Philadelphia, Biden embraced humor regarding his age. He was introduced as a "young whippersnapper" by a church bishop in his 90s. Biden, at 81, joked about turning 40 and expressed his optimism about America's future, drawing cheers from most of the audience.

However, not all feedback was positive. While some parishioners voiced support for Biden's re-election, others were disappointed with his first term, particularly regarding the economy. There were also indications that some would prefer Vice President Kamala Harris as the party nominee.

Despite a recent poll showing Donald Trump leading Biden by nine points among registered voters, Biden remains resolute in his campaign. Support among Black voters, a crucial demographic that helped secure his victory in 2020, has been waning, partly due to economic concerns and doubts about his age.

Biden glanced down at notes and spoke for less than 10 minutes before an African-American congregation at Mount Airy Church in Philadelphia. The crowd was mostly adoring. I thought it was wonderful, and we're looking for four more years. But there were also cracks. Did you watch the debate last week? Yes. What did you think? I was very disappointed in the debate, but, like he said, when you fall down, you get up. A growing number of Democrats have called for Biden to step aside for someone else to lead the ticket, but the president has vowed to stay put. That's despite a recent poll showing Donald Trump now leading Biden by nine points among registered voters. At least he had the strength and the courage to come out before the people. Several parishioners we spoke to said they would be happy if Vice President Kamala Harris became the party nominee for president. This woman says she is undecided between Trump and Biden. Are you at all disappointed in his first term? Yeah, kind of, yes. Yes, I am. By what? I mean, look at the economy. It's like everything, it seems like everything is all messed up. Everything is high. It's just crazy. It's been argued that Black voters in the swing state of Pennsylvania helped deliver Biden to the White House in 2020. But ever since, support for him among African Americans has been eroding. They seem to think that they did better under Trump, and I don't know why I didn't. Under Biden, unemployment is down and household wealth is up among Black Americans. Yet his campaign has struggled to energize this poor group of voters, compounded by doubts about his age.
