Australia Post has suspended its parcel services to the United States, citing a complex and rapidly changing trade environment. The decision follows new US tariffs on imported goods, which now apply to parcels valued under $800, a shift from previous regulations. 

This change has disrupted small Australian businesses that rely on the US market, as well as individuals sending parcels to friends and family. The increased tariffs mean higher costs for a range of goods, and Australia Post is currently unable to manage the new requirements, leaving many shipments on hold.

I have to literally email my customers and the ones that have just currently purchased online and let them know that unfortunately their orders will not be going out anytime soon. Let's hope the stability and calm prevails that we get an outcome because small businesses will be the ones who pay the price. If you have friends or family in the US, things are suddenly much more expensive. Consider this, you wrap up some books produced in Australia and a warm winter coat made in China but bought here, total value $400. You must now pay 10% extra on the books and 50% on the Chinese made jacket even before you find someone to ship it.
