Former England player Monty Pattisar has encouraged his team to show greater intent, particularly under the leadership of Ben Stokes, while also cautioning against repeated batting collapses.

Nathan Lyon is seeking a return to the Australian lineup after missing the previous match, though Pattisar notes that recent changes to the Kookaburra ball have made spin bowling less effective in Australia. Pattisar, currently in Australia to promote a ball-tracking technology platform, also made light of his past verbal exchanges with Steve Smith and his own game show mishaps.

As for Australia, Nathan Lyon is pushing for an Adelaide recall after a second Test snubbing. Pattisar, though, warns things aren't quite the same for spinners these days. We know Nathan Lyon, he's world class. But since that Kookaburra ball, the new Kookaburra ball, 21-22, they changed the ball, it may not be as a bigger threat. Spin may not be, it's one of the reasons spin is not playing a bigger part in Australia because of this new Kookaburra ball. Monty even keen to bury the hatchet on a pre-Ashes war of words with Steve Smith, even able to poke fun at his own now infamous game show gaffe.
