Young people in Douala barricaded all the main streets of the city, and fires could be seen breaking out on key streets of the economic capital of Cameroon. Many inhabitants, like Max, have badly received the announcement of the election results by the Constitutional Council. I'm sick of it. I don't work, and I can't even look after my grandsons, who I have at home. I am suffering so much. So much. Paul Villa needs to stop. I was crushed when I heard the news about the results. It just crushed me. I will be honest with you, it was so shocking to me that I almost broke my TV. What they are doing and have been doing is just hypocrisy. To this government I want to say I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, but you need to stop. If it gets too much for you, you stop. Paul Villa has done a lot for us, but he needs to step down. We respect him a lot. He is like our father, our grandfather, but he needs to stop. In Douala, the security situation has degenerated so much that the armed forces were deployed to several districts of the city. Pillaging, destruction of the public space and live bullets marked the afternoon on Monday, leading to the entire city being paralysed. Paul Villa was re-elected with a score of 53%. The decision has been denounced by opposition candidate Chiroma, who called once more for mass protests on Monday.
