A 44-year-old man was arrested on a property in Emerald, Queensland, accused of pointing a gun at two children, bound with duct tape. It's the second arrest related to child abuse made in the state this month.

Police in the Central Highlands region of Queensland have arrested two men in separate incidents involving children. In the first case, a man is alleged to have tied up two children, aged three and four, with duct tape and taken photos of them with a loaded firearm pointed at their heads. These photos were discovered during a police drug investigation and were allegedly shared with several people. The man, who was known to the children, has been released on bail with curfew and reporting conditions and will appear in court.

In a separate incident, a 59-year-old man is accused of supplying dangerous drugs and committing sexual offences against a child. Police acted after community complaints regarding his behaviour with a juvenile. He has been arrested and did not apply for bail, remaining in custody as his case proceeds through the courts.

It could be fired. Police were at the property in May for a drug investigation. The photos were discovered on a phone. They were allegedly sent to several people after being taken. Obviously very disturbing. Police obviously made initial inquiries. We're able to identify who their children were. The man was known to the children who are safe. He's also been released on bail and will have his matter mentioned in court next month. He's now in curfew conditions as well as reporting conditions, all of which he's complied with. In a separate incident also in Emerald, a 59-year-old man is accused of supplying dangerous drugs and committing sexual offences against a child. I'm placing you under arrest for the grooming of a child. Police were made aware of that incident after complaints from the community. There was concerns amongst the community that this person was getting around with this juvenile and that there was belief that he was supplying her drug and then taking sexual advantage of her. 59-year-old faced court today.
