This effort is part of the initial phase of the ceasefire agreement and demonstrates operational coordination and compliance with humanitarian protocols.

While the search addresses a key point of contention between Hamas and Israel, the recovery and handover of the body do not automatically advance the ceasefire process. Further negotiations are required on critical issues such as a sustained ceasefire, broader withdrawals, and future governance and security arrangements for Gaza.

Today and earlier this morning members of al-Qassam brigades along with the ICRC teams have moved very close to a Zaytun neighborhood as you can see right now in the frame in order to start the search operations for the body of the last Israeli captive held in Gaza. The search for the body reflects a level of operational coordination and compliance with humanitarian and verification mechanisms built into the first phase of the ceasefire agreement. This step remains politically very significant as the whole process addresses one of the main issues that remain a major point of tension between both conflicting parties. I mean here Hamas and Israel but handing over the body and even finding it does not mean necessarily moving directly to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement as there are still lots of critical contentious issues that must be negotiated between Hamas and the Israeli side as well including a sustained ceasefire broader withdrawals and the future governance and security arrangements for Gaza that will certainly shape the future of the next phase of the ceasefire agreement.
