The suspect, a 29-year-old who previously worked with the CIA and was vetted before being granted asylum in the U.S., is facing charges after the incident involving two National Guardsmen.

Authorities are conducting investigations and interviews in San Diego related to the suspect, but AfghanEvac states they were not consulted and did not support the suspect's inclusion in their group. The organization emphasized that the actions of one individual should not be attributed to the broader Afghan population.
