I just feel sorry for that woman, I really do, you know, us women don't need this. We don't. Neighbours say there was no warning, no sign of trouble before the sirens. The call for help had come from within the villa complex where Amanda and her family had lived for a decade. I was cooking and I heard a lot of sirens and that, I heard ambulances and police and I thought, gee, something's big going on around here. As paramedics tried to save Amanda's life, police put her son in handcuffs. He was then charged with murder, domestic violence related. Before his arrest for murder, police had had minimal interactions with Bruce Archer. The 28-year-old was only known to them for a minor mental health related history. Those who knew the family well described him as friendly and his mother the best neighbour you could ever have. The police minister wouldn't comment specifically on the case, but broadly condemned the disturbing rates of domestic violence across the state.
