The biggest and best films, shows and stars from the past year have been named on the shortlists for Golden Globes glory, as this year's Hollywood award season gets under way in earnest.

The nominations for the 2026 Golden Globe Awards were announced, with the film 'One Battle After Another' starring Leonardo DiCaprio receiving nine nominations, including several acting nods for its ensemble cast. Other notable nominees include Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for 'Wicked for Good,' George Clooney and Adam Sandler for 'J. Kelly,' and Emma Stone for 'Bougonia.'

International films had a strong presence, with Norway's 'Sentimental Value' and Iran's 'It Was Just an Accident' among the top contenders. In television, the British drama 'Adolescence,' HBO's 'The White Lotus,' and 'The Pit' also received nominations. The Golden Globe Awards ceremony is scheduled to air on January 11.

Nouvelle Vague, a French-language film with a French cast, but directed by American Richard Linklater, is also up for Best Film, as are Guillermo Del Toro's visually stunning retelling of Frankenstein, the film Hamnet, and the vampire drama Sinners. On television, the British drama Adolescence was nominated, and it also landed four acting nominations. HBO's The White Lotus and the medical drama The Pit are also up for awards. The Golden Globes, often seen as an indicator of the Oscars, will air on January 11th.
