A Cincinnati family is grieving after their 12-year-old son was shot and killed Sunday when a man allegedly opened fire on a stolen vehicle.

A 12-year-old boy, Nehemiah, was fatally shot in Cincinnati after accepting a ride home. According to police, a 31-year-old man, Darius McGrew, allegedly chased down a vehicle stolen from his home and opened fire, killing Nehemiah and injuring another young person. 

Nehemiah's parents described him as a well-liked and energetic child who was known for his kindness and smile. The family and community are mourning his loss and calling for justice in the wake of the tragedy.

Cincinnati police say 31 year old Darius McGrew chased down a vehicle stolen in front of his Winton Hills home late Sunday. Court documents say McGrew opened fire deliberately killing 12 year old Nehemiah and wounding a second young person. McMillan's parents say their son was simply offered a ride home that drop off at the corner and turned into a spin around. Let's go around the block and the process of coming around the block. Somebody's up and fire on the vehicle. His mother Erica remembers her son as a child who always had a smile on his face. Nehemiah. Was like a. One of the greatest kids around here, like all the kids level. Like. Even all the kids at his school, like he just was one of those kids that just stands out. All he do is just smile. He always had a smile on his face. His parents say Nehemiah was known for looking out for other children in the neighborhood and he loved riding and fixing dirt bikes and playing football. He just turned 12 on May 28th energetic. Can you know you always wouldn't call me like Daddy? I love you. You got me dad dad. I love you if you could take back that night so it was his nephew they walked the dog came back in came back in then me and my sister was still sitting there talking and then my ass is like hey I'm about to go outside like yeah I said where you about to go is enough for thank going to where I'm going to the corner but alright he never returned. What McMillan's parents would learn about their son in just a short time would forever change their lives. I wake up to the call that. Nobody ever wants this call. They just get over there. We need to talk to a doctor about their life just happened so quick Tuesday afternoon family and friends gathered outside Nehemiah's home. Yeah. Morning a young life cut short. In praying for justice, justice needed to be done. What would just look like for y'all? I feel I just punished him accordingly. Left fire off in a car.
