A family home in Kellyville, New South Wales, was struck by gunfire when a group fired six shots at the residence from a waiting Toyota hatchback. Inside the home were a three-year-old girl and a couple, who had only recently moved in. The suspects fled the scene, later abandoning and setting fire to the getaway vehicle a short distance away.

Police believe the attack was targeted and have called in organised crime detectives to lead the investigation. No injuries were reported, and authorities are searching for three to four suspects. The incident follows another shooting in the area within the past two weeks, though police have not confirmed any direct links between the cases.

I believe at that point in time there was a confrontation or a discussion at least at the front door before shots were fired. Sounded like fireworks, probably about five or six loud bangs. We just thought it was fireworks, kids in the park, you know, being kids, but it obviously wasn't. So pretty scary. How terrifying that would have been for that child to have her house being the one who was shot and just that sounds and how scary. Just moments later and a couple of kilometres from the shooting, a Toyota is driven down Gorman Street and dumped before being set alight. Explosions ringing out on the quiet cul-de-sac as the getaway car is destroyed. The couple this afternoon seen leaving their bullet-riddled home, where they'd only been living for a week, as the resident's father said his daughter and her family was doing okay. Have you spoken to her today? Yes, she's okay. Police believe three to four people are behind what they've described as a targeted and reckless attack. Organised crime detectives have been called in as the search continues for the gunmen. It's unacceptable and as I said, the response that we are putting into this investigation today is indicative of the seriousness in which we're taking it. That is absolutely appalling for that type of behaviour, criminal thuggery to be on the streets of Sydney is absolutely shocking. This all comes less than two weeks after a second shooting just minutes away. It's too early for me to say what those links are, but one would argue from proximity and the actions of the offenders that there could potentially be a link.
